Numerous nanoscale devices and materials have been fabricated in recent years using a variety of biological scaffolds. However, the interfacing of these devices and materials into existing circuits and ordered arrays has proved problematic. Here, we describe a simple solution to this problem using self-assembly of the peptide coiled-coil heterodimer ACID:BASE to immobilize M13 bacteriophage par...

phage elisa is a common method to confirm binding of obtained phages from phage display technique to related antigens. enzyme-conjugated antibody directed against the major capsid protein (pviii) or enzyme-conjugated secondary antibody against the primary antibody is used as a detection system in phage elisa. we have suggested to express an acid phosphatase (sapm) enzyme on m13 pix minor coat p...

The present study is aimed at investigating the usefulness of pulsed-wave Doppler ultrasonography for characterization testicular blood flow in buffaloes during nonbreeding and breeding seasons. Ten Egyptian buffalo bulls were evaluated changes (Doppler’s indices: resistive index (RI) pulsatility (PI)) levels supratesticular (STA) (winter) season (summer). alterations parenchyma echotexture (pi...

The Shank/ProSAP family of multidomain proteins is known to play an important role in organizing synaptic multiprotein complexes. Here we report a novel interaction between Shank and beta PIX, a guanine nucleotide exchange factor for the Rac1 and Cdc42 small GTPases. This interaction is mediated by the PDZ domain of Shank and the C-terminal leucine zipper domain and the PDZ domain-binding motif...

The use of plant growth regulators (PGRs) in cotton to control growth and enhance yield is a widely used practice. The most commonly used PGR to control vegetative growth is Pix® (mepiquat chloride). Recently, the bacterium Bacillus cereus was added to Pix to form Pix Plus, a new and improved version of Pix. Research results have shown that Pix Plus has a small yield advantage over Pix while st...

Phage display has been instrumental in discovery of novel binding peptides and folded domains for the past two decades. We recently reported a novel pIX phagemid display system that is characterized by a strong preference for phagemid packaging combined with low display levels, two key features that support highly efficient affinity selection. However, high diversity in selected repertoires are...

Earlier, we detected pIX of BAdV-3 as a 14-kDa protein in purified virions. Analysis of BAdV-3 pIX using different region antibodies revealed that the N-terminus and central domain of the pIX contain immunogenic sites and are not exposed on the surface of BAdV-3 virion. This suggested that the C-terminus of BAdV-3 pIX (125 amino acid) may be exposed on the virion and may be used as a site for i...

The GIT proteins, GIT1 and GIT2, are GTPase-activating proteins (inactivators) for the ADP-ribosylation factor (Arf) small GTP-binding proteins, and function to limit the activity of Arf proteins. The PIX proteins, α-PIX and β-PIX (also known as ARHGEF6 and ARHGEF7, respectively), are guanine nucleotide exchange factors (activators) for the Rho family small GTP-binding protein family members Ra...

Asymmetrically substituted perylene imide derivatives PIa and PIx display phosphorescence in glassy matrices at 77 K. The lifetime is 49.0 ms for PIa and 13.5 ms for PIx. The triplet energy is 1.79 eV for PIa and 1.68 eV for PIx as confirmed by sensitization experiments of the C(60) triplet.
